The movie that was made in Stanley Tasmania
After leaving Penguin, our next stop was Stanley, a small seaside town
on the NorthWest coast of Tassie.
In 2014, a movie was made from a novel called
The Light Between Oceans.
The streets were covered in dirt, old signs were put up,
actors & locals in period costume,
horses & carts in the street.

Stanley's other claim to fame is the Nut.
The Nut in the Background.

We took the Chair Lift to the top of the Nut sooner than climb it.
Great view from up there at 143 metres.

There are a lot of interesting old houses in Stanley too.

This was the original home of Tasmania's only Prime Minister of Australia

The old Van Diemen's Land Company store now a B&B

This boat takes tourists cruising round the Nut & the Seal Colony

They have a Southern Rock Lobster &
Deep Sea Giant Crab industry

We took a day trip along the Tarkine Drive.
Going down to Arthur River, & the Edge of the World.
We passed through this town to get there.

Bridge over Arthur River

The Red Boat takes tourists cruising up the Arthur River

The Edge of the World at the mouth of the Arthur River

Walking through the rainforest to get to the Trowutta Arch

More of the Rainforest.

Parasitic fern growing on a parasitic fungus growing on a tree.

The Trowutta Arch
We visited Highfield House while in Stanley.
Built in 1832-1835
It was the residence of a Chief Agent of the
Van Diemens Land Company & the first settlement
in NorthWest Tasmania.
Beautifully restored inside, but ongoing.

Our last day at Stanley we saw the cars come in from the
Targa North West car rally.
Some old cars, & some pretty flash new cars, about 45 in all.

Seen on the way round Tarkine Drive.

This mural was on a farmers shed wall at Marrawah

Stanley Wharf gets up to 100 fisherman here when
the schools of Blue Warehou run

Mural in Smithton

Stanley Town Hall, another great dance floor.

Lots of Bumblebees in Tassie
We leave Stanley to head off to Port Sorell, to catch some fish (hopefully)
