BreadnJamRndTassie 21/10/17 Week3

The iconic Streaky Bay jetty

It's the end of our 2nd week here at Streaky Bay, and it's time to move on to Adelaide tomorrow
We've had a relaxing time here, with mixed weather from cold & very windy, to hot.
The fishing & surfing has not been as good as when we were here in March 2016, with only a couple of surfable days, & the wind being too strong to fish in our little boat at times. Still, we caught fish & crabs, had drinks & dinner at the Pub, cycled, read books, Jigsawed, & enjoyed the experience.

One of the days we got out in the boat, we were fishing near the Oyster racks.
The fishing was slow, we had 3 whiting, a flathead, & a Trevally in the bag over the side of the boat.
Then the  tide turned, the wind picked up a little, and the fish were just starting to come on the bite.
Suddenly, Jan noticed a large shape coming towards us in the water. At first glance I thought it was a shark, and considering we were in a small, plastic boat, I was a tad concerned. As the shape came closer, I realised it was a Dolphin. He was interested in the fish in the bag we had over the side. If he grabbed the bag & took off, our side boat rail would be dragged under, & the boat would fill up with water! Of course it was only 3 foot deep, so we wouldn't drown, however,  we pulled the bag in, but he kept swimming round & round the boat, & of course the fish went off the bite, so we thought we might as well feed the him(or her). He swam closer & closer to my outstretched hand holding the trevally, until eventually he came in & gently took it out of my hand. He kept hanging round after that, but we weren't going to give the rest of our fish! After he left, we packed it in and went home.
We couldn't top an experience like that!

A view down to Streaky Bay from a housing development on the hill. Building blocks start from $50,000, & views like this, cant be built out, $170,000

A short drive round the back of Streaky Bay takes us to Back Beach

Took a drive out to Granites again. This time a Jetski was doing tow-ins. Hard to pick up waves because of the low tide, but the surfer being towed had no problem.

Sorry to leave, but looking forward to catching up with South Australian, & ex West Australian friends in Adelaide.
